Join us for an evening of housing awareness! 

Movin’ On In will promote efforts to end homelessness and raise awareness of local challenges in obtaining affordable housing. The event will provide participants with a hands-on opportunity to broaden understandings of homelessness and housing through a housing simulation. The simulation will allow participants to play the role of a homeless individual in need of housing. Each role will include circumstantial details and participants will attempt to obtain housing during four simulated days. After the simulation, a  housing specialist will lead a debriefing session and provide opportunities for discussion. Afterwards, participants will assemble “new home starter kits” in laundry baskets for newly housed families. We will conclude with a speaker from our AmeriCorps program who will share how members are serving their community.

We are asking that participants bring items to be included in the new home starter kits that will be assembled during the event if they are able. Items we are looking for include: trash bags, laundry detergent, dish soap, body soap, shampoo, toilet paper, paper towel, and sponges.
